The University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) and the North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) continue to partner and offer support for families in need. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to create extremely difficult health and economic challenges throughout Texas. Many UNT Dallas neighboring communities have been hard-hit by illness and unemployment and still need support. In an effort to provide relief to the southern Dallas communities, UNT Dallas is again partnering with the NTFB to bring a drive-thru mobile food pantry to campus on Friday, Nov. 20. This free, drive-thru service is available to students, faculty, staff and all community members just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. We encourage attendees to begin lining up in their cars at 8 a.m.

Safety precautions have been established to make the distribution of food a fully contact-less process. Participants will complete a simple intake form in their car and volunteers from the North Texas Food Bank and UNT Dallas will load a box of food in the trunk and securely close it. UNT Dallas police officers will direct the flow of traffic entering and exiting the UNT Dallas campus, located at 7300 University Hills Boulevard, Dallas, TX 75241.

“As the holiday season begins, we continue to see an urgent need for food in our communities during this ongoing public health crisis,” UNT Dallas President Bob Mong said. “As COVID-19 numbers continue to rise in Dallas, it’s crucial that we come together to help our students, faculty, staff and neighbors in need. We are grateful for our partnership with the North Texas Food Bank that enables us to serve our communities in a meaningful way.”
